Who Is Somatic Sexology For?

Real People. Real Questions. Real Embodiment.

Somatic Sexology is for anyone who wants to reconnect with their body, explore their sexuality, expand their capacity for pleasure, or heal from the disconnects that so many of us carry. You do not need to be “broken” to benefit – and you don’t need to fit any particular identity, orientation, experience level, or relationship status.

If you're curious about your body, your pleasure, your desires, or your limits, this work is for you.

For Individuals

Many people come to somatic sex education and Sexological Bodywork because they feel something is missing, stuck, or unspoken in their sexual experience. Some are navigating shame, numbness, pain, or trauma. Others simply want more ease, curiosity and joy in their erotic lives.

Common reasons individuals seek this work:

  • Difficulty with orgasm or arousal (e.g. anorgasmia, delayed ejaculation)

  • Genital pain, pelvic tension, or discomfort during sex (e.g. vulvodynia, vaginismus, anodyspareunia)

  • Loss of desire or “shutting down” sexually

  • Wanting to explore pleasure and embodiment outside of performance

  • Compulsive sexual behaviour or shame around sexuality

  • Body image struggles, especially around nudity and intimacy

  • Postpartum or post-surgical recovery and scar tissue remediation

  • Wanting to feel more emotionally or sensually connected

You might not know exactly what you’re looking for – and that’s okay. This work helps you listen to your body’s signals and discover what’s possible, safely and with guidance.

For Couples & Partners

For many couples, intimacy becomes routine, stressful, or disconnected over time. Somatic Sexology offers a space to slow down, reconnect, and learn new ways of giving and receiving – rooted in communication, presence, and consent.

Couples often come to this work to:

  • Reignite desire and explore new dynamics

  • Learn how to touch and be touched with awareness

  • Discover each other’s boundaries, wants, and erotic maps

  • Shift out of performance and into connection

  • Navigate different libidos, desires, or sexual identities

  • Rebuild trust or intimacy after life changes (e.g. parenting, grief, illness)

  • Practice the Wheel of Consent® together

  • Learn to have real conversations about sex — without blame or fear

For Professionals

Therapists, coaches, bodyworkers, educators and holistic practitioners are increasingly turning to somatic sex education to fill a gap in their practice – the space between talking about sexuality and helping clients experience it differently.

If you’re a practitioner who wants to bring ethical, embodied and sex-positive tools to your clients, training in Sexological Bodywork or Somatic Sex Education can profoundly expand your scope and depth.

This work is especially valuable for:

  • Psychotherapists and counsellors wanting to incorporate embodied sexual learning

  • Bodyworkers interested in trauma-informed touch and sexual wellness

  • Sex educators seeking practical, inclusive, body-based approaches

  • Coaches, somatic therapists and yoga teachers expanding into erotic embodiment

  • Professionals working with gender-diverse or neurodivergent populations

  • Birth workers and doulas interested in postpartum healing and scar tissue work

You Don't Have to Know What You Want Yet

You might be feeling unsure, nervous, skeptical – or just deeply curious. That’s welcome. You don’t need to have it all figured out. You just need a willingness to explore what’s possible with a skilled, ethical, and compassionate guide.

This work is:

  • For people of all genders, sexualities and relationship styles

  • For those with experience in personal development – or none at all

  • For anyone ready to move from surviving to thriving in their sexual embodiment
