Trainings & Certification
Become a Certified Sexological Bodyworker® or Somatic Sex Educator™
Why Train in Somatic Sexology?
Are you passionate about supporting others on their journey to sexual embodiment, healing, and empowerment? Do you want to bring ethical, body-based tools into your work as a coach, therapist, bodyworker, or educator?
Training in Somatic Sexology gives you the knowledge, experience, and credentials to work with clients around sexuality, pleasure, trauma, and embodiment – in a way that is consent-based, trauma-informed, and professionally recognised.
You’ll learn how to facilitate safe, transformative experiences through:
Education (not therapy)
Consent-led, one-way touch
Experiential learning and somatic coaching
Clear ethical guidelines and professional boundaries
This is a rigorous, hands-on path to becoming a Certified Sexological Bodyworker (CSB) or Certified Somatic Sex Educator (CSSE).
Overview of Certification Paths
There are two main levels of professional training:
1. Certificate in Sexological Bodywork (CSB)
The foundational professional qualification in somatic sexology.
Length: 6 to 12 months (typically 300–400 hours)
Mode: Online learning, in-person intensives, supervised client work
Includes:
In-depth anatomy and sexual health education
Consent and boundary frameworks (including Wheel of Consent®)
Coaching tools, breathwork, and embodiment practices
Hands-on & hands-in training with gloves (optional, client-led)
25+ supervised client sessions
Code of Ethics and professional scope of practice
You will graduate as a Certified Sexological Bodyworker®, recognised by the Association of Certified Sexological Bodyworkers (ACSB) and other international professional bodies.
2. Certificate in Somatic Sex Education (CSSE)
Advanced practitioner training that builds on the CSB.
Length: Additional 6–12 months
Focus:
Working with couples and complex cases
Deeper trauma-awareness and somatic integration
Erotic self-development (your own embodiment deepens your capacity to support others)
Creative and adaptive applications of body-based sex education
Some schools combine CSB and CSSE over 18–24 months. Others offer them as separate programs.
Where Can You Train?
Global training centres offer CSB and CSSE certifications in:
United Kingdom
Canada
United States
Australia
Brazil
Various European countries
While all training centres follow the core curriculum developed by Joseph Kramer, each program brings its own cultural and regional flavour – with added content in trauma-informed care, embodiment coaching, scar tissue remediation, Wheel of Consent® and more.
What Makes This Training Unique?
Ethically grounded – built around clear professional codes of conduct
Client-led – you learn to co-create with clients, not “fix” them
Experiential – you will explore your own embodiment, pleasure, edges, and learning
Transformational – many trainees describe the journey as life-changing, not just professionally, but personally
Important to Know: This Is Not Trauma Therapy Training
The CSB is trauma-informed, not trauma-specialised.
You will learn:
What trauma is (from a neurobiological perspective)
How to recognise dysregulation and support safety
When to refer out to trauma therapists or clinical professionals
Many practitioners choose to supplement their CSB with further trauma training (e.g., Somatic Experiencing, TRE®, or trauma therapy diplomas).
What You’ll Graduate With
Professional certification as a CSB and/or CSSE
A toolkit of body-based methods for working with sexuality and embodiment
The ability to work with individuals and couples online or in-person
Eligibility for professional directories (e.g. sexologicalbodyworkers.org)
A deep understanding of ethics, boundaries, consent, and client agency
